The Villa of Mandri
with its farm estate and Borgo cluster of apartments is located in Reggello at 390 ASL.
Reggello has been inhabited since antiquity. The first written records about it date back to the 10th and 11th centuries. Originally called Castelvecchio di Cascia, Reggello arose as a marketplace between Via del Casentino and Cassia Vetus (modern-day Setteponti road). Reggello was founded as a community only in 1773 by Grand Duke Leopold's legislative decree.
The central part of the manor house dates to the 15th century, when it was a hunting lodge.
The Villa's current appearance goes back to the late 17th century, as attested by an inscription in the façade (1666), when two side towers were added and the façade was adorned with a front staircase leading to the first floor by the internal garden accessed from the large loggia.
Unfortunately, the facade staircase was demolished in the late 19th century, though we still have a painting showing it by Enrico Markos dated 1877.
The Borgo was added to the villa in the latter 18th century for farmers' living quarters, with a design typical of Leopold-era homes. They have been carefully restored into our delightful apartments and cottages for rent.
Historical records show that, in the 15th century, the Villa was owned by the Carnesecchi family and was later bought by a branch of the Medici family, cousins in the "cadet branch" of the reigning Grand Dukes, who owned it for centuries until recent times. In recognition of the importance of the Villa di Mandri
and its Borgo, the Superintendency of Historical and Artistic Heritage has declared it a national monument.
The Fattoria di Mandri Villa and its Borgo cluster offers a variety of apartments and two small cottages. Here are a few pictures to give you an idea of what they are like. The apartments can sleep from two to seven people. Some are one-bedroom with living room, others are one bedroom with living room with sofa bed; the kitchens are either separate or kitchenettes; and all bathrooms have bathtubs.
All apartments have independent heating, which is paid for by use, making them comfortable year-round. They can also be rented by groups or for specific purposes. All apartments can be requested for longer periods; rental agreements and rates will be agreed according to needs and the period. All come equipped with bed, kitchen and bath linens, which are changed once a week. For longer stays, or if specifically requested by guests, an additional change of linens may be provided. Mandri's expansive terraced gardens let our guests enjoy true peace and quiet. The swimming pool, converted from a historical washhouse, is in the fields below the Villa, with sun chairs and loungers and a changing room with shower. Sauna and Jacuzzi are also available for guests. Washing machines can be used independently for €5.00 per load at an agreed time. A special corner in the garden is set up for drying laundry. Our swimming pool (9x4 m) is open to our guests from May 9 to September 26 around the clock. An adult must be present for children under the age of 14.
